James serves as the General Counsel for Gravity Renewables, Inc. where he leads commercial and power marketing contracting, corporate legal matters, and the utility interconnection process for the company’s portfolio of small hydropower projects. During his eight years with Gravity, James has been instrumental to the company’s growth, overseeing all legal requirements related to the acquisition of 12 assets and $60MM in debt financing. 

Prior to his role at Gravity, James ran his own law practice where he advanced a variety of power marketing initiatives and asset acquisition for both emerging and established technologies. Before his law practice, James worked at The Cadmus Group where he advised over 25 municipalities on solar development decisions including successfully negotiating over 10MW of solar PPAs. In addition, James has advocated for the solar power industry at the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (“PUC”) and designed legislation on energy efficiency for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. 

James is a graduate of the University of Colorado Law School with a Certificate in Energy. He was a Judicial Fellow with Colorado Court of Appeals and has a BA in History and Political Science from the University of Denver.
