Henry Obermeyer
Henry Obermeyer grew up in the formerly hydro-powered mining town of Aspen, Colorado where as a child he restored a turbine from an abandoned mine and installed it in an irrigation ditch. He went on to earn a master's degree in metallurgical engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and has been a registered professional engineer since 1982. He has been awarded over 50 patents in fields ranging from hydropower and water control to multi-axis machine control, connections for fiber-reinforced composites, and spectrometric synthetic aperture radar. He is the founder of Obermeyer Hydro, a global supplier of water control gates, rubber dams, and hydroturbines. He is a strong advocate for safe fish passage.
