Colin Clark
Colin Clark is Senior Operating Partner & Chief Technical Officer of Brookfield Renewable, having joined the company in 1997. Mr. Clark leads the engineering and technical aspects of the global power and transition businesses of Brookfield. He previously served as Senior Vice-President, Operations and as Executive Vice President of Brookfield Renewable and its predecessor companies. Mr. Clark was also President and CEO and a Director of Brookfield subsidiary Great Lakes Power Limited.
Mr. Clark has more than 40 years of experience in the electrical power and utilities sectors. His responsibilities have included engineering and senior leadership covering generation, transmission, distribution, storage, and utilization. Mr. Clark has had executive accountability or direct management responsibility for the design, development, construction, maintenance, operations, and evaluation of many assets and systems.
Mr. Clark is a Professional Engineer; Vice-Chair and current Acting Chair of the Governing Council of the Standards Council of Canada (SCC); President of the Canadian National Committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC); Member of the IEC Board; Member of the Senior Leaders Council of the Centre for Energy Advancement through Technological Innovation (CEATI); Founding Life Member, Canadian Hydropower Association (CHA, now WaterPower Canada); Life Senior Member, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). He previously served as Chair of CHA a member of the Board of Directors, Vice-President, and Chair of the Governance & Finance Committee and Hydropower Policy Committee, International Hydropower Association (IHA); Member of the Board of Directors, Canadian Electricity Association (CEA, now Electricity Canada); Chair of the Generation Council, CEA. Mr. Clark has also been an active member or director of numerous other industry associations, advisory bodies, boards, councils, and committees.
Mr. Clark received IEEE Power and Energy Society Chapter Outstanding Engineer Awards in 2010 and 2016, and he was awarded the IEEE Canada R. H. Tanner Industry Leadership Medal for 2011. In 2018 Mr. Clark was the recipient of the first CHA President's Award. He received the first Electricity Canada Jim McFadgen Award for Standards Excellence in 2023. In 2015 Mr. Clark was inducted as a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada.
