Bryan Leyland
Bryan Leyland MSc, DistFEngNZ, FIMechE, FIEE(rtd) is a New Zealand based power systems engineer with 60 years of worldwide experience in all aspects of power generation, transmission and distribution.
He is the author of Small Hydroelectric Engineering Practice which discusses all aspects of small hydropower development in the range of 500 kW to 50 MW.
For many years he has been concerned about the safety of dams and, in particular, the safety of spillway gates.
He also has serious concerns about the long-term safety of large dams. The recent failure of the Libyan dam that drowned maybe 20,000 people highlighted this concern.
